Tue, 1st December 2020 - Day Services Update - December 2020
Foraging
In preparation of the Festive Workshops held throughout the month of December by Day Services, Service Users enjoyed exploring the farmland to forage for the materials that would be needed for their creations:
Reindeer Workshop
In the first of the Festive Workshops, Service Users enjoyed making their own ornamental Reindeer, utilising different types of woods to create the bodies, legs and antlers! The guys displayed these proudly in their homes or chose to give them to family as a homemade Christmas gift:
Wreath Making Workshop
Service Users enjoyed weaving wood to create their very own wreaths. They were then able to decorate these with a variety of materials – including ribbon, dehydrated fruits, holly and moss. Snow spray and glitter was also a must!:
Christmas Decorations Galore!
The Service Users created some great festive decorations in the workshops – Including their own table centre pieces and clay decorations to display on their trees:
Christmas Eve Party
To end 2020, the Day Service team threw a Christmas Eve party so that everyone could get together and feel the festive spirit. The Baking Group were hard at work making mince pies and Gingerbread cookies that were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended. Service Users also enjoyed watching festive films and playing a Christmas themed bingo game.
From all of the team at Day Service, we hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy New Year:

Go Big or Gourd Home!
We grew some whoppers for Halloween! Those that were not decorated by the Service Users were broken down for food and given to the wildlife on the Farm:
Animal Care
The Service Users have done an absolutely fantastic job of ensuring the animals are cared for, especially with the colder months approaching. The cows will now remain in the barn until the end of Spring:
Personal Projects
Service Users at the Blackdown Centre have continued with their personal projects and have enjoyed being able to express themselves creatively. Keep your eyes peeled for the Christmas Workshops we have coming up next month!:
Upcycling
Service Users at the Mendip Centre have continued with their excellent work of upcycling old materials into new creations. In December, they will be learning how to recycle pallets to construct their very own Christmas Trees as part of our Christmas Workshops:
Nature
Despite the colder months well and truly arriving, everyone has pulled together to landscape the grounds on the site - it is more important than ever to get out and appreciate the nature around us. Well done guys!:

Chicks!
The team at Day Services have successfully hatched chicks with the use of an incubator. Those attending have enjoyed giving them frequent cuddles and making sure their environment is comfortable and warm:
Planting
There has been a great spirit at Day Services, with those attending braving the colder months to continue planting vegetables and flowers. We utilise the vegetables grown on the farm to both supply the services with fresh produce, and to cook with in our “cooking on fire” group which we hold on Fridays:
Upcycling at the Mendip Centre
Those at the Mendip Centre have continued with their upcycling projects – Creating both furniture for use around the Farm and working on personal projects, such as seen here where they are refurbishing a bike frame (tea breaks are also a necessary part of the day!):
Farm Wildlife
Our recently planted “Bee & Butterfly” garden has already started attracting the attention of the local critters:
